Combat flight sims Nigel Eastmond 09:20:35
So, given that we can run Windows now, where would someone with a Mini
Core Duo go to find a nice combat flight sim?

Re: Ace Combat 6 first-look ~ preview by GameSpot Carl 19:28:42
360? I never even read his crap, just quickly scanned for links to
screenshots. I was thinking, how lonely and uninteresting must his life be
if he spends all day posting on newsgroups!

Has anybody tried flight-sims on x64 XP or 64-bit Vista? Forward Observer 07:07:15
They claimed that even 32-bit programs run better on 64-bit operating
system. Has anybody tried the flight-sims on x64 XP or 64-bit Vista? I
wonder if it is worth the money and time spent on 64-bit systems.

Re: tons of new Ace Combat 6 screenshots HockeyTownUSA 16:23:52
If the gameplay is half as good as the screenshots look then it should be a
great game. Problem is, past Ace Combat games were WAY too arcadey for me. I
enjoy most flight games, but previous ones were just too FPS like.

Long time ago I had an ADB joystick (Gravis Mousestick II) which
worked well with A-10 Attack/Cuba in OS 8.6. Then I Upgraded to a 1.25
gHz flatscreen iMac (512 RAM) ....the game still runs smoothly in
Classic mode but I can't get a joystick to work with it. The USB
joysticks I've tried are being recognized by the iMac, but I can't get
the sim to recognize it.
Thanks in advance for any help at all...
Steve

Steve,

How are you running Cuba/Attack? Through Classic?

il2-1946 + Saitek Bob 13:30:50
I'm a completely a newby to flight sims. I bought F4AF and realized it was
_way_ over my head. So I bought IL2-1946.

I have XP Pro and a computer to run it on highest detail.
2 Questions.

1) What plane is the simplest trainer to learn on - any nationality.

2) I used Excel and put all the key commands on a list and assigned a
keystroke for every command. Is it better to write an individuall profile
for every plane I fly (easy now that it's all on Excel) or put the entire
list assigned to the Saitek?

Thanks, in advance,
Bob

I'm a semi-regular gamer who is a schoolteacher and will be having a
summer
to spend a bit of time gaming. I've had an urge to play a good flying
game. I haven't played a good modern flighter simulator in over 10 years
and am completely ignorant of what's out there. I don't mind a high
learning curve. I want good realism and action. I'm not interest in any
World War II games. I have no real problems with performance because my
system is pretty robust.
What's out there?
Regards and thanks in advance,
Stevie

A few months ago I bought Falcon 4.0 (not Allied Force) and I just
printed up the entire 600 page manual. I am up to lesson 8, and I am
having a blast. I have installed the 1.08 patch and the SuperPak 4. I
am running an older system (1.3 gig Pentium 4 with 628 meg of ram,
Geforce 7600 GS video card). I am usually more of a Microsoft Flight
Sim player, but this thing is absolutely incredible. The realism,
especially for a 9 year old simulation, is just staggering. The whole
idea of a war going on around you as you take out targets and evade
enemy missiles and planes is amazing.
I am wondering if there are any of you out there who are still using
the simulator and would enjoy spending a little time training a newbie
on the sim. I am not looking to join a squadron, though there are very
few out there which are not using Allied Force. I feel that with a
trainer I would be able to grasp the concepts much quicker. From what
I gather, there are still thousands of people playing this game and
maybe a few who would enjoy the challenge of getting back into it for
at least a few weeks.
If there are any takers out there, please respond here or email me at
sstahl4006@aol.com.
Thank you.
Steven

I recommend getting Allied Force. Much more stable and enjoyable IMHO,
especially if you're going to play online.

MS Space Simulator on Windows XP-Can it be run? David Meads 18:22:34
I have WinXp Home, so according to Microsoft I can't use Virtual PC 2007
(they require WinXP Pro). And Virtual PC 2004 has disappeared...

So is it possible by some other means to run Microsoft Space Simulator (DOS
only) on Windows XP?

Any assistance is appreciated...

Microsoft & AVSIM Issue Joint Statement Tom Allensworth 11:36:46
The Microsoft Flight Simulator Team and AVSIM Online are pleased to announce
the co-sponsoring of what may well be this year's largest Flight Simulation
gathering! "The goal of our partnership is to provide a venue that will host
an unprecedented number of Flight Sim add-on and hardware vendors," says
Brett Schnepf, Community and Partner Development Manager for the Microsoft
ACES Studio. We want to give FANCON attendees the widest possible range of
add-ons and hardware to check out. In other words: many shiny objects to
play with!"

The AVSIM Flight Simulation Fan Convention and Exhibition (FANCON 2007) will
start Friday afternoon November 9th with the traditional informal AVSIM
FANCON social. The event will continue on Saturday with exhibitions, white
paper sessions, and the Saturday night Awards Banquet. The Awards Banquet
will include a special key note speaker, as well as the traditional AVSIM
Bravo Zulu and Reader's Choice award presentations. Sunday will see more
exhibitions and white papers.

Flight simulation enthusiasts from around the world will be in attendance,
so here's your chance to finally meet the people behind all those voices and
forum posts.

Regisgter here today for the exciting and sure to be memorable event:
