I made my first attempt at flame polishing tonight.

Your hands are your friends.

As you flame the ramps, you should have your bare hands touching the ramp.

Why?

You will feel the heat before the warping starts.

There is a delay between heat application and the point at which the plastic
deforms.

Your hands will make you stop before the ramp deforms.

Always best to practice on an old ramp but trust me, if you use bare hands
and you get a feel for the delay in the plastic taking on heat, you won't
warp a ramp.

There is a 5-10 second delay in the time the flame is applied until the
plastic will transmist the heat. If your bare hand is on it and you
anticipate the delay, you will not overcook the ramp.
