I posted a reply 3 times on the thread about my FD kick out hole issue

earlier this week. But my posts don't show up. Sometimes I post

something on RGP at home and then it isn't on the board when I try to

read it at work. This time it doesn't show up at all. It's weird.

Anyway, thank you, Chris Hibler. The kick out holes now work right

every time.

Can I ask you about two other problems on the FD?

1) It's quite loud every time the drops reset- like when adding

players or anytime they reset. It sounds like a loud ZONK. My Mustang

is much much quieter. Do you think replacing the coil stops in the

drop target bank solenoids would help? Maybe this is like an

electrical buzzing noise but is very brief since the drop target bank

solenoids are fired just for an instant when they fire. Any other

ideas?

2) My FD will knock and score a replay for a match, but never for a

high score. The high score plugs are plugged in, in the lightbox.

The playfield special will only rarely knock, and then when it has, it

didn't score a replay. How should I fix this?

I've been playing (and loving!) my TSPP for the past few weeks, but

have a question. When you start a couch multiball, the dialogue goes

something like this:

Wiggum: "Open up, Simpson! You're under arrest!"

Homer: "For what?"

Wiggum: "(something) pinballs!"

What is it Wiggum is saying? Hoarding pinballs? Portly pinball?

So, what protocol does everyone follow?

The obvious:

If the pin is doing something damaging to itself, or is majorly jammed

or malfunctioning, turn it off and leave a note why it is off.

The questions:

1) If a ball is stuck or something basic isn't working, do you:

a) leave it running until the owner comes by and sees it.

b) leave it running, but leave a note

c) turn it off and leave a note.

d) if there is a name and you know them, tell them.

The real question is:

e) if there is a name and number, call them. (do you call them each

time it does something? - how many owners appreciate that - how many

find that a pain?)

Other ideas/suggestions?

custom made or can these be found at radio shack?

Ok, I went out to our local electronics store (Baynesville Electronics)

and they didn't have either the rectifier or the associated capacitor.

Any ideas who does have BR 1 and 2 and capacitor C5?

BR1 and 2 are 35 amp 200 volt bridge rectifiers.

C5 is a 15,000 µfd 25v capacitor.

Have a STNG pin which was working fine.

Now the top Drop Target assembly is repeatedly firing because the target

will not lock.

Any idea what to check in the assembly to get the Target to lock?

So I was having a problem with my lost mine kickout. It was hitting

the crook between the lane guide and the flipper and arcing over to

the left outlane somewhere north of 7 times out of 10. Never did it

roll up the lane like I've seen on other people's machines.

I had tried adjusting the scoop to no avail. Someone here suggested I

use a weaker coil to fix the problem, and even was kind enough to send

me a 26-1200 to try. Now that popper normally takes a 23-800, and the

26-1200 was three steps down. I tried it in the game, and sure enough

it fixed the problem, but now the popper shot was very soft and less

challenging. It was trappable almost 100% of the time.

So I ordered up the two additional intermediate step coils and had a

swapping party. Of those two, the 25-1000 still provided 6 out of 10

controlled catches that dribbled up the right flipper inlane, while

the 24-900 provided just about the maximum unpredictability of any

coil I have tried. A few shoot up the inlane, sometimes coming out

the top, sometimes not, some still hit the crook and arc back to the

left to many different spots (occasionally even to the left outlane).

That's the coil that's in there right now.

So here's my real question to the group after a long windup. Should

the lost mine kickout be more of a controlled kick catchable more

times than not, or should it be more unpredictable. Certainly the

stronger coil will make the game harder and that's why I'm inclined

towards it, but I also think catching that kickout is something you

_should_ be able to do most of the time, since it happens so

frequently and is an essential skill to progress far in the game.

What do you think, keep the ball wild, or make it a bit tamer?

I decided to give this one more shot, I have a very nice NBA Fastbreak

that I am looking to trade for another title. I still really enjoy

playing this game, but my 3-1/2 year old son (who is now the main

pinball player in the family) never plays it anymore. The reason

being he gets confused with the whole "passing in-the-paint" and

avoiding the blocker when shooting.

Anyways, I'm hoping to trade it for another early to mid 90's WPC or

DE and possibly some System 11 titles. The NBAFB is unshopped, but

doesn't really need it right now. Everything is working 100%. The

playfield, cabinet and backbox are all in really good condition. I

have added a new cabinet speaker from PinballPro and have a spare

lockdown bar as well. The boards all look good - the sound board was

recently repaired by Rob (Borygard), who does excellent work. Also,

The display is bright. The only issue I see with it is the basket

ramp does have a small crack in it. It really is a nice machine. I

also have a manual for it.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Lunch we had during Expobrawl? For

the fact, that the tourney takes in $1900 + the $15 to for the Expo

that your forced to pay in addition. I was expecting a lot more.

the word "food" was used pretty liberally. Yes it's better than

nothing (debateable), but for some, the offer of food, to justify the

overall cost, was a deciding factor, those were greatly disappointed

by the obvious cost cutting, which really put a focus on the money

making intent of tourney. Many of us figured it was going to be like

last year, wed night when they had catering and real food.

Hello--

I tried searching for this in pinrepair.com and in the archives, no

luck. Basically, at certain angles my big hurt won't feed the ball

into the shooter lane. It tries, but nothing comes out. Has anyone

experienced this before? I angled it slightly higher or lower (I put

the legs on--before I had it on some boards with an angle)--before the

legs it used to work fine. I'm sure it's an easy fix, I was just

hoping that someone else knew what it was. Thanks!

John, I haven't had to source any of these fasteners, but if you had

to do without an original, you could use a t-nut underneath and then

use a fastener from above. Might need to make a slightly larger hole

underneath to accommodate the t-nut.
