| Armageddon Empires David 23:39:00 |
| | Just discovered an interesting turn based fantasy game with deep strategy called Armageddon Empires. You control one of 4 factions and fight over a post apocalyptic world. It combines many great features of turn based fantasy games and collectible card games but without the need to buy additional cards. Has a nice board war gaming feel. I'm really excited about this game and think you will be as well if you try the demo:

| GalCiv2 download? Barnyard 14:11:45 |
| | Thinking of buying the big package with GalCiv2 and the two expansions. How many GBs is the download though? Didn't see that info on their buy page. Actually, lots of download sites don't tell you that info. Probably because they think you might stop the purchase when you realise your computer will be tied up for hours downloading the data.

This is a real-time 4x game being published by Stardock. I saw a preview for it some months ago and it was due in August. Now it looks like it's been pushed back to February. The most recent preview from Gamespy makes it sound like it's a solid game but lacking polish and needing some balance adjustment. The developer has apparently been running betas on and off, so if you played in any, what was your impression of the game?

| Windows Vista NoSpam 01:07:06 |
| | Curious question:
Why would anyone buy Windows Vista? I understand that it is not backwards compatible with my present software and being version 1 it's very 'buggy's.
Forget about dual booting - too much trouble for the simple home user. I just cruise the net and play games. Nothing complex.
Thanks.

| AMD Radeon 4000 vs Nvidia Senica 06:03:47 |
| | AMD Radeon is supposed to be releasing a Radeon 4000 Series that will power down to extremely low wattage in idol mode. I'm wondering if any one knows how these cards will stack up against the 8800 GT or 9800 GTX. The idea of a video card that does always function as a toaster oven really appeals to me.

| Any New Version of Windows Senica 22:30:48 |
| | The Pent ultimate issue with any decision to upgrade to any new version of Windows has always been for me a problem with device drivers. For the past year I have not bought any hardware or software that controlled hardware unless it was "Vista ready" thus avoiding any potential problems.

| Supreme Ruler 2020 Gone Gold Balthagor 18:13:32 |
| | New York, USA (May 26, 2008) - Globally renowned publisher Paradox Interactive is delighted to announce, that the highly anticipated Supreme Ruler 2020 has gone Gold.
Developers BattleGoat Studios has produced an engaging geopolitical wargame set in a future full of global turmoil. Numerous improvements help surpass the original, to provide a game full of complexity and deeply engaging strategy.
"We've created a strategy game with unmatched scope and depth. We set our sights high - play the whole world, all at once, without limits on the numbers of units, facilities, or other elements. It's all in there", says George Geczy, Lead Programmer and Co Founder of BattleGoat Studios.
In the year 2020, the world is fracturing along economic and political fault lines. War is commonplace. Borders shift on a daily basis, as rival militaries duel over dwindling resources. Your nation seeks a leader to rise above the chaos. The region needs a warrior, to wield an iron fist and smash aside the forces of anarchy. Our world demands a strong ruler, to restore order and return stability to a terrified population.
Can you become the Supreme Ruler?
Key features in Supreme Ruler 2020:
- Control any department within your government or delegate decisions to your Cabinet Ministers - Sophisticated Military Strategic and Tactical Command System - Select from hundreds of actual military vehicles to research, build, and deploy - Choose conventional warfare or develop your nuclear weapons program - Detailed Economic and Political Models - Flexible Diplomatic Interface allowing sophisticated negotiations - Play any one of over 250 Regions world-wide - High Resolution Satellite imagery provided courtesy of NASA - Single Player or Multi Player support - Varied Game-play options include Regional Battles, Missions and Campaigns - Next Generation AI - Introducing BattleGoat's new Super Sandbox Mode for unlimited customization and replayability

| GalCivII Gold? Gumby 23:31:58 |
| | Why did they release a Gold version of GalCivII and then release a new expansion pack for it afterwards? Gold means final and containing all expansion packs. The Gold version they are selling is not that as it lacks 'Twilight of the Arnor' expansion pack . Guess I will have to wait for the Platinum version containing all expansion packs now.

| Re: GalCivII - and now for something completely different Peter Huebner 18:28:17 |
| | I've recently acquired a large monitor. So now I'm trying to play Galciv(Dark Avatar) in 2560x1600. The problem is, the fonts become so small, I just about need a magnifying glass to read them
I've posted on the Galciv Forums about it, but so far no response.
Does anybody know if there is a way to change the font in the pop-up windows and the status line and event messages? The only alternative is to play in 1280x800 and that is Not Nice, end up with overlapping icons and looks like 16 color vga with stepped fonts. intermediate resolutions (interpolated) turn out to be exceedingly blurry.

| A quiet weekend in Capri John Sisker 01:01:35 |
| | I tried to install "A quiet weekend in Capri" on a laptop, which uses Windows Vista. The game was really designed for Windows XP/98/95/ME. I managed to get it to work - sort of, but it needs a bit of fine-turning. I can's seem to clearly access the start menus, encountering a big black square instead, and from then on, everything is in Italian instead of English.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, John

| Supreme Commander unit color modification John Doe 23:50:58 |
| | http://forums.gaspowered.com/viewtopic.php?t=25587
If you don't have it already. That brightens up the strategic icons.
Something they haven't done but IMO would be very useful is to make the icon type indicator either white or the inverse of the icon color. As it is, dark icons are just dark spots on the screen. When you hover over a dark icon, the unit type indicator is highlighted but you get a pop-up describing the unit anyway. Dark icons are pretty much useless. Hopefully they'll do that so we can tell what the dark colored icons are like we can tell what the light colored icons are.
Good luck and have fun.

| Supreme Commander, dual/quad core utility John Doe 21:48:05 |
| | Noticed a utility for making (apparently better) use of multiple CPU cores while playing Supreme Commander. I haven't used it because I don't have a multiple core CPU yet. Apparently it's very simple to use, try right clicking on the system tray icon after it's installed. Here's the link.
www.muphin.net/CoreMaximizer1.03.zip
I just did a Yahoo search for "CoreMaximizer1". The actual contents of that particular file download are unknown to me. You can search the Internet or go to GPGnet and do a search for a safer source. Originally, I found the utility on GPGnet by searching for (dual "quad core") without the parenthesis.
Good luck and have fun.
