turn 4 for a 5/4 flying haste shroud Specter. Maybe follow with a turn 5
Demigod. As for turns 1,2, and 3, maybe some counterspell/burn or
manafixing.
Devour is an idea, but I don't think Blue has anything to offer as far as
putting in bundles of creatures or devour creatures. I like Black's Tar
Fiend, and You'd have access to Soul's Fire if You get a really big
devourer. Red's got Draggon Fodder for a couple tokens, but I always like
Red-green-Black for Devour since it has the Sprouting Thrinax.

I'm coming back from a few years not playing. I have a Naya Behemoth deck - Green, Red, White which started from a prebuilt and added from some booster packs. It seems pretty balanced for now. With the remaining Shards of Alara booster pack cards, I wonder what a Black Red Blue deck might be like. Any suggestions? I am thinking along a devour deck approach. Ed

| | First of all, thanks for the advice on cards to damage or destroy all
creatures of a certain type. It really helped!
Now, I have an aurochs deck that I really like, but, it just seems to
be missing a certain "something". It's much faster now that I have 4
wild growths, and the ingots/moss diamonds. The spiders help block
flying and work nicely. I _love_ Wall of Resistence and so having a
spiderish form of it is great.
I haven't yet used the Hurricanes and so I don't know how useful they
are in actual practice. Anything better to deal with flying is
appreciated.
The fog and the emerald charm are also two cards I'd be happy to
replace with something with an actual purpose in the deck. They're
basically just in there to bring things up to 60 cards and because
they don't really hurt me to have in my hand.
In general, the deck is kind of slow and is somewhat dependant on the
good graces of other people deciding I'm less of a threat than others.

Have you thought maybe of giving them -five- decks? One of each color, all
made only out of commons? That'll exhibit the strengths of each color
individually ... and point out the weaknesses of each one against two of
the others, without bringing in the specific color-spoiling cards (which
are generally uncommons). Plus it'll be inexpensive.

Kehitys

LeviÄminen
Vaikka ankeroiset voivat sÄilyÄ hengissÄ kuolleella puulla vuosikausia,
tarvitsevat ne siirtÄjÄeliÆn eli vektorin kuljettamaan ne uuteen
lisÄÄntymispaikkaan lÄhistÆn terveisiin mÄntyihin. Vektoreina toimivat
sellaiset hyÆnteiset, jotka iskeytyvÄt lisÄÄntymÄÄn kuoleviin puihin ja
kaivautuvat puuaineeseen, nÄin ankeroiset voivat niihin tunkeutua. LisÄksi
hyÆnteisten tÄytyy aikuistuttuaan kÄydÄ nakertamassa terveiden mÄntyjen
vuosikasvaimia, oksia, runkoa tai juuria, jotta ankeroiset pÄÄsisivÄt uuden
puun solukoihin. Mahdollisia vektoreita Suomessa ovat pÄÄasiassa
Monochamus-suvun sarvijÄÄrÄt: suutari ja ranskanrÄÄtÄli, mutta muidenkin
hyÆnteisten arvellaan voivan toimia satunnaisesti vektoreina.
Tuhokohteet
MÄntyankeroisen tuhoja on esiintynyt kotoisilta puulajeilta vain mÄnnyllÄ,
joka on varsin altis tuhoille. Muualla maailmassa ankeroisen on todettu
tuhonneen erityisesti sylvestris-ryhmÄn mÄntyjÄ: punamÄntyjÄ (Pinus
resinosa), japaninmustamÄntyjÄ (P. thunbergii), japaninpunamÄntyjÄ (P.
densiflora) ja P. luchuensis -mÄntyjÄ. LisÄksi se on todettu lukuisilta
mÄnty-, kuusi- ja muilta havupuulajeilta.
Tuhon eteneminen
Suotuisten olosuhteiden vallitessa mÄntyankeroisten mÄÄrÄ
kymmentuhatkertaistuu parin viikon aikana.

Uusien puiden valtaamiseen se
pystyy kuitenkin vain tietyssÄ elinkiertonsa vaiheessa (ns. kestotoukka).
LisÄksi se vaatii levitÄkseen siirtÄjÄeliÆn, jona toimii useimmiten jokin
Monochamus-suvun jÄÄrÄ. Ankeroisten lisÄÄntymistÄ suosii kuiva ja lÄmmin
kesÄ.
Vaikutus puuhun
MÄntyankeroiset tukkivat lisÄÄntyessÄÄn puun tiehyet. Ne valtaavat
saastuttamansa puun kokonaan siirtyessÄÄn puun sisÄllÄ pihkatiehyeiden
kautta niin oksiin, runkoon kuin juuristoonkin. Ankeroisten aiheuttaman,
usein nopean, puiden kuolemisen syytÄ ei aivan tarkkaan vielÄ tiedetÄ.
Vektorien mukana kulkeutuu usein myÆs sienitauteja ja pihkanerityksen
heikentyessÄ puut altistuvat monille muille tuhoeliÆille. Lakastuminen
saattaakin olla seurausta useiden eri tekijÆiden yhteisvaikutuksesta.
Elinkierto
Vektorit
Ankeroisten tunnistaminen on vaikeata koska kuolevassa ja kuolleessa puussa
suorastaan kuhisee erilaisia ankeroisia.
Vahingot metsÄtaloudessa
MÄntyankeroisesiintymÄt vaativat aina vÄlittÆmiÄ toimia. MÄntyankeroinen
pystyy lisÄÄntymÄÄn ja tappamaan puita nopeasti. Ankeroinen tappaa Japanissa
vuosittain miljoonia kuutiometrejÄ puuta.
*90% metsÄstÄÄn katosi muutamissa vuosissa Siperian pakkasista ja tuulista
huolimatta lÄpi maan.
Tuhoriskin arviointi
SÄÄolot, ainakin EtelÄ-Suomessa, mahdollistavat mÄntyankeroisen
lisÄÄntymisen ja kotoinen mÄntymme on todettu alttiiksi ankeroiselle. Vaara
mÄntyankeroisen leviÄmiselle Suomeen on melko suuri,
*Saivartelua, koska leviÄminen on SELVIæ!
koska kaikkia
puutavaraeriÄ ja pakkausmateriaaleja saastuneilta alueilta ei pystytÄ
tarkastamaan. LisÄksi on mahdollista, ettÄ Aasiasta perÄisin olevan
puutavaran mukana kulkeutuvat ankeroiset pÄÄsisivÄt vakiintumaan
lÄhialueille. LÄmmin ilma ja kuivuus altistavat puita.
*Ankeroinen trodellisuudessa lÄhestyy Suomea jo kahdelta maayhteydeltÄ
ongelmitta. MetsÄteollisuus ja ydinala ankeroinen tulee, oletteko valmiina
pysÄyttÄmÄÄn koneenne!?***
TorjuntamenetelmÄt
Tehokasta keinoa ankeroisen torjumiseksi ei ole toistaiseksi pystytty
kehittÄmÄÄn.
*Osuma ja upotus! Miksi haaskata ydintekniikkaan, jolle ei ole edes jatkossa
TARVETTA!!
Toimivimmaksi on osoittautunut vektorihyÆnteisten hÄvittÄminen
ja saastuneiden puiden polttaminen ennenkuin vektorit poistuvat niistÄ.
Suomessa tiukat tuontipuurajoitukset ovat paras keino leviÄmisen
estÄmiseksi. Tuontipuu saastuneilta alueilta tulee olla kuumakÄsiteltyÄ 56 C
30 minuutin ajan siten, ettÄ kÄsittely ulottuu puun keskustaan asti.
MÄntyankeroinen on Euroopan ja VÄlimeren KasvinsuojelujÄrjestÆn
karanteenilistoilla (European and Mediterranean Plant Protection
Organization, EPPO). LisÄksi EU:lla on sÄÄnnÆkset sen leviÄmisen
ehkÄisemiseksi. MikÄli epÄillÄÄn mÄntyankeroisen levinneen metsÄÄn, on syytÄ
ottaa yhteyttÄ Kasvintuotannon tarkastuskeskukseen, missÄ asia pystytÄÄn
varmistamaan.
